work in progress - copper stacking rings

I've been impatiently wanting to add stacking rings to my shop for such a long time, this process is a bit of a learning curve for me as I've not worked with thick wire before.

I've already made a silver ring but I thought I'd experiment with copper which is softer to work and also a bit cheaper!

These three rings are made from 1.6mm copper, two smooth, one hammered finish. I'm not all there with the solder joins yet, they aren't as smooth as I like. But I like the finish and the thickness of the wire.

I'm wearing these with the silver ring I bought, they stack well as a four, or a three, or a two!

Am continuing to work on these, watch this space! Hopefully I'll be back working with the silver soon too.

more work in progress...

I seem to have a lot of work in progress projects on the go lately, there will be a time (hopefully soon) when they will be finished and ready to list in my shop.

The one I've had the most fun with lately is making a stacking ring, I've wanted one myself for a while but never got round to buying one from Etsy. Now I'm soldering I thought 'Hey I can make myself one!'

I wanted a substantial ring but something very simple and good to wear everyday. I have chosen slightly thicker wire than a normal stacking ring, this is a nice in between a thin stacking ring and a thicker stand alone ring. You can wear it either way.

This one isn't quite there with the brushed finish yet so I have more wire on the way to make more! I like the brushed finish, I use it a lot in my silver work and it makes the silver sparkle in a different way to a mirror finish.

Keep your eyes peeled for rings in my shop very soon - hopefully in gold fill and silver!

Polishing

I do like an 'in progress' pic - I like capturing the ordinary.

I loved the way the pink polishing cloth looked against these oxidized earwires that I just made.
It has also given me an idea for a pair of earrings, now I need to track down some beads that go perfectly.

Work in progress..

Some pictures from weekend crafting, working on a lovely long necklace. The design is also flexible so you can loop it twice round your neck or lots of times around your wrist for a chunky bracelet.

Listing later on today on Etsy!
