Autumn collection begins

Well now look how much of a hard worker I have been lately!

I have been designing lots of new pieces with a nice Autumn twist - deep purples, ambers, rich reds, vintage metals and simple shapes all feature. And I've been playing with gemstones!

I have some Amethyst in my shop at the moment and I am hoping to introduce more gems very soon, watch this space!

My popular First Date Earrings are back in two colourways  - pink and purple and amber and pink. They are ever so sparkly!

My most favourite piece is the Opera Necklace, I spotted this filigree a while ago and couldn't resist it any longer, I am so glad I snapped it up. It is a one of a kind piece, I think the filigree is quite rare too, and ever so elegant.

All of these pieces are for sale in my Etsy shop, some will also be available in my folksy, dawanda and All Things Original shops.

Pattypan Pasta and the Etsy Blog

This week has been so lovely on the food blog front, I have guest blogged for Walden Local Food and today my blog for the Etsy Storque is up, check out the UK Edition for a yummy recipe for Rhubarb and Blueberry Cobbler. Thanks so much to Amity from Etsy for suggesting I guest on there!

After all this excitement I am popping in with a quick and lovely recipe for a summer squash pasta dish.
I picked up these really cute squashes (yes I bought them because they are cute) at the market last Saturday. I have been trying to get my hands on pattypan squash for a while, they are one of the best squashes to eat - sweet and tender.

If you work quickly it will all come together in the time it takes to cook the pasta.

I started by topping and tailing three squashes and slicing them very finely.
I fried them off with a glove of garlic in some butter til they were a little bit browned and soft. Then I added oregano, seasoning, chili flakes and a tablespoon of creme fraiche, and stirred to combine.
Once the pasta was ready, I drained it, added it back to the pan with the squash, some water reserved from the spaghetti and some parma ham cut into ribbons (4 slices was good enough for 2 of us).
Served with some freshly grated parmesan and lots of black pepper.

This pasta was so perfect for summer (we'll ignore the fact that it was raining a lot outside) - very light and with lots of fresh flavour. I'll definitely make it again!

summery jewellery and a promise!

I have mainly been making lots and lots of jewellery lately so my blog and foodie activities have been minimal..

I have lots of new jewellery in the shop and my bridal line is expanding by  the week.

Promise I'll be back with something foodie for your tastebuds soon!

The lovely butterfly necklaces are made with porcelain butterflies from Karen at Hodge Podge Arts - she has been so helpful creating these for me, they look beautiful worn, I have kept a purple one for myself!

Sweet Treats Bakery

Lemon Meringue Marshmallows!!

One of my lovely etsy friends Creamrose pointed this shop out the other day, a new UK foodie seller Sweet Treats Bakery who makes handmade marshmallows and caramels.

Of course I had to order immediately!
I plumped for the lemon meringue marshmallows and impatiently waited for them to arrive.
I was not disappointed when they came, they were packaged beautifully and stacked together in a little cube. They are just as lemony as I hoped they'd be, there is no scrimping on the ingredients here. I also got a little sampler of raspberry marshmallows which were richly flavoured.

I must admit they are going fast, I am trying to ration myself but not suceeding terribly well.

I've made marshmallows before but I always love to buy handmade ones because I like the different flavours and tweaks others can do. I've got my eye on the caramel marshmallows for my next purchase!

I very much urge you to purchase from this new seller on etsy - treat yourself! :)

Lake District Craft Weekend and the Etsy Blog!

I recently went away to the Lake District with 8 of my friends from the handmade/artists/crafters community. We had a fab weekend surrounded by beautiful countryside, plenty of foodie goodies and lots of crafting.

We were featured in the Etsy storque blog yesterday too! yay!
Check us out here - http://www.etsy.com/storque/handmade-life/uk-edition-9-get-crafty-in-the-lakes-7514/

I learn some knitting, bear making, how to make PMC jewellery and needlefelting. And saw the amazingness of a gocco machine in use. I love learning new crafts and also learning a bit more about jewellery from other jewellers. I've got so many ideas still, even 3 weeks after the trip.

Simple Vintage

Normally designers create an idea of a collection before producing the items that go into that collection, but this has come the other way around. I have a lovely stock of simple vintage items in my shop which will now form my Simple Vintage Collection.

Lately I have found myself making more simple designs in order to show off wonderful vintage pieces with minimal extras. I love how classic these pieces look and how easy they are to wear everyday, but also similarly how well they dress up for occasion wear.

The whole collection is exclusive to my Etsy shop. These pieces are all vintage, with intricate but simple details - easily fitting all seasons, occasions and outfits.

One of these pieces is my most popular item - Two Lockets necklace. It is made up of two fantastic teardrop brass lockets and my favourite wavy link brass chain. It fastens with a brass lobster clasp. All components except the wire are vintage!

I hope you enjoy my new collection and I hope to stock it with lots of new pieces in the coming weeks and months!

Nearly Spring..

The weather has certainly taken a turn for the better, with signs of spring in some places. I can never decide if Autumn or Spring is my favourite season, I think I just like the change that it brings. I love Spring blossom and we are looking forward to some gorgeous blossom on our fruit trees this year.

In the spirit of all of this I created this really colourful Treasury today, which certainly helped me feel a bit springier on a Monday morning!
